This time of year reminds me of Christmas for people in the Oracle community. It seems like anything big that's going on at Oracle in the second half of the year gets queued up so when OpenWorld attendees ride the escalator down into the Moscone on Christmas..I mean Monday... morning they will have shiny new presents to unwrap.
I'm still pondering predictions for OOW, they will be forthcoming. If you've never been to OOW I'd offer up the following advice:
1. Sign up for everything you might want to go to ahead of time, sessions fill up fast and the "standby" line is a crapshoot
2. Abandon what you signed up for in advance and try to get into a session to see something you overheard somebody talking about at lunch.
3. Get in early if you can and enjoy the city.
4. The shuttle buses between the hotels and Moscone are a joke. There's so many people choking the streets that it's faster and easier just to walk (if you're able).
5. Don't stress too much about your hotel room, you'll likely spend less than 8 hours a day there, and hopefully you'll be asleep for most of that.
6. See Ellison's keynote, although not in person. It's one of the most entertaining things you'll see (well...official OOW things you'll see) and it'd broadcast on CCTV screens all over the place.
7. Don't make plans for early Thursday morning. Trust me, it'll be a long night.
8. A smartphone with Google Maps is your friend.
Anyone else have good OOW advice?

Take advantage of the lounges, if your company has access to them. A nice break from the masses of people.
Don't forget about the exhibit area, and make sure to see both the Oracle stuff and the third-party vendor stuff.
Take advantage of Oracle OpenWorld Connect. In fact, you can do that today. There's already a lot of activity in the groups, and contacts being made.
P.S. You may want to use the label "openworld07" for your posts. That has emerged as the standard tag for all things Oracle OpenWorld 2007 (blogs, twitters, flickrs, etc.).
Pick a backup session for each timeslot in a room nearby. Over the years I've found that I consistently leave about 30% of the sessions within the first 10-15 minutes because they're a lot fluffier than advertised.
